It just doesn't make sense to go to the trouble and expense of scanning and digitizing family heirloom photos for the purpose of creating a video slideshow unless they are restored to their original (or better) condition first.  We can perform miracles on damaged, faded, color-shifted and poorly composed or focused photos.
